Use Cases: National Government Agency
A large government agency is tasked with certification and accreditation of all new or updated network products as well as pinpointing and eliminating
cyber weaknesses. The agency traditionally conducted manual and expensive, yet
incomplete, research that found inherent product vulnerabilities were the
underlying source of many network exploits. Frequently government agencies use proprietary
protocols, which makes analysis on IP-enabled devices difficult if not
impossible. Such agencies need a proactive service assurance platform and a repeatable
process that easily automates existing attack scripts as well as send millions
of variations of service traffic as well as denial-of-service simulations to more
completely stress test their systems and applications.
This agency now depends on the Mu-4000 platform to
aggressively identify and help remediate underlying service weaknesses before
they result in downtime, either from unintentional (interoperability) or
intentional (hackers) causes. The result is more accurate and in-depth analysis
to bolster systems to be more resistant to cyber threats. The agency also plans
to use their Mu-4000 analyzers to help disseminate best practices around cyber threat
testing and to coordinate incident response activities.
