Cloud and web services are designed to work with a multitude of clients and servers from multiple vendors. To magnify the interoperability challenge even further, there are thousands of individual versions of software running on these systems that needs to be tested. Automated recreation of these systems is the only way to stay on top of this exploding matrix of test combinations.
From the perspective of the traffic being injected into the cloud IP
Service, the operation of the Mu Test Suite is indistinguishable from
the operation of the original component because the traffic is essentially
identical; it follows the same "script" and delivers equivalent
sessions and content over new, live sessions. This is not packet
replay: The Mu Test Suite is creating new sessions that are
indistinguishable from the traffic that the original device would have
sent. In the end, the only way to tell if the service can still support
legacy equipment is to actually interact with the service as a legacy
device would. Cloud services frequently are interacting with other cloud components and as APIs change, the only way to ensure backward-compatibility is to be able to re-generate traffic that used to work, to see if it still does.
By adopting Mu’s Test Suite and Mu’s adaptive test approach for Interoperability testing, cloud and web service providers and product vendors can save time, lower cost and significantly increasing test coverage throughout the development and deployment cycle.
