Service MonitoringThe point
of proactive Service Assurance is to thoroughly assess service components to
ensure that when they are deployed in the real world they will not suffer
downtime. So when generating different kinds of service traffic, the Mu-4000 monitors
the service to ensure it is performing according to expectations. The Mu-4000 collects
response-time data and plots any faults found in context of the
observed response-time trend lines.

All of
these service assurance assessment results (e.g., specific hard faults,
response-time degradation, momentary outages, application DoS conditions, etc.)
represent issues that would lead to downtime. By remediating these issues as
early as possible in the deployment life cycle, the service provider is able to
deliver a much higher quality service that keeps users happy, thereby
minimizing customer churn due to dissatisfaction, avoids penalties due to SLA
violations, and generally maximizes revenue.
