Extensions
Protocols across all OSI layers
typically have custom or proprietary extensions that are not necessarily
defined in the specification. These might be evolving standards or
vendor-specific extensions.
The Mu-4000 provides the ability to
define custom headers and payload definitions for protocols that frequently are
extended in these ways.
Mutations
Service interfaces, or protocols,
are composed of various "layers" of headers and they carry "payloads." Custom
headers are most likely to appear at higher layers, or in protocols that are
rapidly evolving. In the case of IPTV, VoIP, IMS, web services, and other
technologies, both of these apply. The Mu-4000's Mutation Analysis module allows the user to model these
proprietary and/or non-standard protocol features on which service deployments
depend. More importantly, the Mu-4000 is able to generate meaningful variations
of these extensions automatically.
Denial of Service (DoS)
The DoS module allows the user to
specify any customized protocol structure from layer-2 through layer-4+,
including the ability to randomize selected headers, even across multiple
layers. The Mu-4000 enables the user to create exactly the type of traffic that
they need, then to deliver it at just the rate they want, using any protocol as
instrumentation.
