BT ENHANCES RELIABLE DEPLOYMENT OF SERVICES USING MU’S SERVICE ANALYZER
BT’s Comprehensive Proactive Service Assurance Uses the Mu-4000 Service Analyzer for Vendor Evaluation Phase through System Integration & Testing
SUNNYVALE, CA – September
8, 2008 - Mu Dynamics, a
pioneer in helping network
operators and their vendors
eliminate downtime through proactive service assurance, today announced new
business with BT (NYSE: BT), a leading global provider of network IT communications
solutions. BT is using the Mu-4000 Service
Analyzer to support the evaluation and testing of proposed services on the UK’s Defense
Fixed Telecommunications Service (DFTS) network. BT chose the Mu-4000 based on its systematic ability
to quicken the reliable deployment of new services—from initial vendor and
equipment evaluation through systems integration and testing.
“With Mu’s
Service Analyzer we are able to baseline the reliability of every vendor and potential
system prior to making a purchase decision—proactively detecting any problems that
could lead to disruption or downtime in our production networks,” according to Matt
Graff, BT’s defense account manager.
“The automated analysis performed by the Mu-4000 is far more
comprehensive than any manual process or point product solution we have evaluated
to date, and this will be critical to BT as we implement our next generation of
real-time network infrastructure and services.”
'Always-Available' Triple Play Applications Depend on Proactive
Service Assurance
BT began operating
the DFTS network in 1997, and the contract was renewed in 2005 to take it to 2012. The network supports a broad range of services
to the 230,000 users at the Ministry of Defence (MOD)
who place more than 750,000 VPN calls a day and send two million emails per
week through the DFTS EGS (Enterprise Gateway Service). Under the MOD’s Defence Modernization
Program, BT is in the process of introducing a new core network which aims to
enhance services while reducing tariffs paid by the MOD.
“Network
operators like BT are vigilantly pursuing comprehensive and proactive service
assurance programs by gaining the upper hand on the increased complexity of today’s
converged IP networks,” said Adam Stein, vice president of marketing at
Mu. “The Mu Service Analyzer is
purpose-built to satisfy increasing complexities. This enables operators to accelerate the
rollout of new and enhanced VoIP, IPTV and IMS architecture-based services,
while ensuring any NGN service delivers the high levels of availability and
reliability needed to maintain customer satisfaction and reduce churn.”
The award-winning
Mu-4000 Service Analyzer is widely adopted in more than 100
installations at global network operators and their strategic vendors. The Mu solution automates the detection,
isolation and elimination of a wide range of weaknesses in IP-based networks
and supplier products. This methodical and
proactive approach maximizes network operator service availability and network
uptime. With the Mu-4000, network
operators proactively eliminate many
sources of costly downtime, avoid reputation damage, ensure customer
satisfaction is maintained at the highest levels possible, and reduce costly
customer churn.
