Mu-4000 Security Analyzer Wins Coveted InfoWorld 2008 Technology of the Year; Internet Telephony Product of the Year; SC Magazine’s Innovator’s Award and Best Security Software Development Solution Finalist
Sunnyvale, Calif. - January 16, 2008 - Mu Security, a pioneer in the new security analyzer market, today announced that its Mu-4000 Security Analyzer has received three prestigious industry awards and critical acclaim in lab test reviews from leading publications covering network security. This widespread recognition—largely based on tier-one service provider, MSO, and network equipment vendor customer adoption—confirms the rapid emergence of security analysis as an essential capability in increasing the reliability, availability, and security of any IP-based offering.
The awards include: the InfoWorld 2008 Technology of the Year Award; the SC Magazine 2007 Innovators Award; and INTERNET TELEPHONY® Magazine’s 10th Annual Product of the Year Award. The Mu-4000 also has been cited as the “Best Security Software Development Solution Finalist” by SC Magazine. In addition, the Mu-4000 received accolades in hands-on lab test product reviews from three top tier trade publications including InfoWorld, Network Computing and Network World.
InfoWorld 2008 Technology of the Year Award
The InfoWorld 2008 Technology of the Year Award was based on an InfoWorld review dated December 13, 2007, titled “Mu Security Analyzer busts Vulnerabilities with Greatest of Ease,” in which the Mu-4000 Security Analyzer received an "Excellent" rating and strong buy recommendations for any service provider, cable operator or vendor-supplier worried about identifying unknown security vulnerabilities, product robustness, or maximizing uptime to limit customer churn. “The Mu-4000 shines with wizard-driven test configuration, intelligent workflow, excellent vulnerability profiling, and auto-generated zero-day exploits,” according to the review.
SC Magazine Innovators Award
In its December 2007 issue, SC Magazine Labs awarded the Mu-4000 the “2007 Innovators Award” and noted that the Mu appliance will continue to be used within the SC Magazine Labs as a benchmark for upcoming product testing. According to the accompanying article, “SC Magazine found Mu to offer a completely new approach to vulnerability analysis…this is the most effective vulnerability analysis tool we have used.”
INTERNET TELEPHONY Magazine’s 10th Annual Product of the Year Award
INTERNET TELEPHONY selected the Mu-4000 for its 2007 “Product of the Year” Award honors from nearly 500 applications. Winning entries demonstrated a commitment to quality and the continued development of the IP telephony industry. “Mu Security has proven they are committed to quality and excellence while addressing real needs in the marketplace. INTERNET TELEPHONY is pleased to grant a 2007 Product of the Year Award to their Mu-400 Security Analyzer,” said Rich Tehrani, TMC president and editor-in-chief of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine. “We’re proud to honor their hard work and accomplishments and look forward to more innovative solutions from Mu Security in the future.”
Best Security Software Development Solution Finalist, SC Awards 2008
SC Magazine US Editors short listed the Mu Security Mu-4000 Security Analyzer for SC Awards 2008 “Best Security Software Development Solution.” Among more than 600 entries submitted in more than 30 technology categories. Finalists of this award are determined through voting conducted by the publication's extensive service provider and developer readers. With this finalist nomination, SC Magazine readers are recognizing Mu as a key ally in their mission to safeguard businesses, customers and critical data in North America according to SC Magazine Editor-in-Chief Illena Armstrong.
Network Computing Product Review, January 2008
According to the Jan. 7, 2008, review by Network Computing titled “Mu-4000 Security Analyzer: Security Gets Warm and Fuzzy,” the Mu-4000 lets IT sniff out software vulnerabilities before the bad guys do. “Mu provides an easy-to-use interface for creating/automating complex testing and analysis situations quickly. While the cost varies depending on protocol sets purchased, potentially discovering vulnerabilities and product weaknesses before deploying any products or applications could be priceless.”
The Mu-4000 is also used by leading external test labs including Neohapsis, Byres Security, Network World Test Alliance, NSS Labs and Ziff Davis test labs to test and certify robustness, availability and security readiness of any IP-based product. On Nov. 12, 2007, Network World Test Alliance reviewer Joel Snyder of Opus One measured the underlying capabilities of 13 leading Unified Threat Management (UTM)/Intrusion Prevention products using the Mu-4000 as the baseline in two scenarios.
“It is extremely rewarding to receive these industry accolades, and it further demonstrates the value that Mu Security customers and industry experts see in our solution,” said Mu Security CEO Dave Kresse. “The Mu-4000 Security Analyzer allows service providers and their varied suppliers to automate negative, non-functional testing within the deepest, darkest corners of their IP based offering, identifying issues that impact the reliability, availability, and security of their solution before they’re launched into production environments.”
