Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) announced today the recipients of the 2009 INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Awards.

The TMC Labs Innovation Awards honor products that demonstrate raw innovation, unique features, and significant contributions toward improving communications technology. The TMC Labs Innovation Awards are granted to those companies demonstrating raw innovation, uniqueness, and representing a significant contribution to the industry.

For the second consecutive year, Mu is honored to receive a Communications Solutions Product of the Year Award which has recognized the most innovative products of 2008 that facilitated voice, data and video communications, or combinations thereof.  This prestigious award has been bestowed to companies who demonstrated the vision, leadership and attention to detail that are the hallmarks of the Product of the Year Awards.

Unified Communications magazine bestows its Unified Communications Excellence awards on companies that have demonstrated excellence in technological advancement and application refinements. "Mu products and services have gone the extra mile to help improve both the customer experience and the ROI for the companies that use them,” said Rich Tehrani, TMC President and Group Editor-in-Chief of Unified Communications.

"Mu’s product began as a way to test critical components of large networks,” said Dr. Peter Stephenson, SC Magazine contributing editor and Associate Program Director in the Master of Science in Information Assurance program and Research Professor at the National Center for the Study of Counter-Terrorism and Cyber Crime, both at Norwich University. “Today, the Mu Test Suite still tests those components, but it also looks at a bigger network picture as well. But for Mu, innovation does not stop there. This company hardly makes a move without socializing through a base of customers and, perhaps not-yet-customers.

Internet Telephony selected the Mu Test Suite based upon excellence in the VoIP/IP communications industry, and most importantly, Mu customers like BT, Cox and Sprint willing to offer testaments of support.

Mu Security has been named as a finalist for the SC Magazine Awards (Best Security Software Development Solution).

Mu Security has been named as a finalist for the Red Herring 100 Award, a selection of the top 100 North American private companies playing a leading role in innovation and technology.

Internet Telephony selects the Mu Test Suite for 2007 "Product of the Year" Award honors from nearly 500 applications. Winning entries demonstrated a commitment to quality and the continued development of the IP telephony industry.

SC Magazine US Editors have shortlisted the Mu Security Mu Test Suite for SC Awards 2008 "Best Security Software Development Solution." Among more than 600 entries submitted in more than 30 technology categories. Finalists of this award are determined through voting conducted by the publication's extensive service provider and developer readers. With this finalist nomination, SC Magazine readers are recognizing Mu as a key ally in their mission to safeguard businesses, customers and critical data in North America according to SC Magazine Editor-in-Chief Illena Armstrong."

SC Magazine Labs awarded the Mu Test Suite its 2007 Innovators Award based on reviewers continued product evolution and use within their labs as a benchmark for any networked product. For innovation, SC Magazine found Mu to offer a completely new approach to vulnerability analysis. The Labs staff liked everything saying, "this is the most effective vulnerability analysis tool we have used."

SC Magazine, a leading global publication focused on hands-on security product analysis and testing awarded the Mu Test Suite its highest honors, SC Magazine Lab approved. The reviewers stated that Mu's solution was the most powerful vulnerability analysis tool they have used. SC Magazine Labs reviewers described Mu's Test Suite as a true, complete automated test bed for security analysis of protocol-based systems.

According to TMC, the eighth annual TMC Labs Innovation Awards honors IP Communication products possessing truly innovative and demonstrating raw innovation, unique features, and significant contributions toward improving communications technology. The TMC Labs Innovation Awards are based solely upon the uniqueness or the pioneering of particular product or service.

NXTcomm exhibitors nominated themselves, their customers or their vendors for best new technology or enterprise solution in 12 categories covering the entire range of wireless, broadband, and next-generation technologies and services for both public and enterprise networks.

Hailed as "the business world's own Oscars," Stevie Awards are conferred in four programs: The American Business Awards, The International Business Awards, The Stevie Awards for Women in Business, and the Selling Power Sales Excellence Awards. Honoring companies of all types and sizes and the people behind them, the Stevies recognize outstanding performances in the workplace worldwide.

The Frost & Sullivan Award for Product of the Year is presented each year to the company demonstrating excellence in new products and technologies within their industry. Frost & Sullivan found the Mu Test Suite as a prime example of new technology in the security test and measurement industry that demonstrates innovation with wide-ranging acceptance from both end-users and product developers. Mu Security was named a 'Best of Show' finalist for the Interop Tokyo conference. NOX Co., Ltd., a Mu reseller, submitted the Mu Test Suite for Interop Tokyo honors based on its ability to meet the proactive security needs of vendors, service providers and enterprises including discovery of zero-day vulnerabilities - the holes that generally are not known to exist or have yet to be exploited by hackers.

Mu Security won a '10 Start-Ups to Watch' award from Network World, a leading network industry trade publication. Mu Security's recognition as one of the industry's most influential start-ups after only one year in business comes closely on the heels of its initial product launch and first customer deployments.

AFCEA bridges government requirements and technology industry capabilities, representing the top government, industry, and military professionals in the fields of information technology, security, communications, and intelligence. Mu is a Corporate Member.

CableLabs is a non-profit research and development consortium dedicated to pursuing new cable telecommunications technologies and helping its cable operator members integrate those technical advancements into their business objectives. Mu and its MSO customers participate in CableLabs events.

CT Labs is a full service testing and product analysis firm specializing in testing services to converged communications product manufacturers and next-generation network service providers. CT Labs has significant testing expertise in a wide variety of converged communications product and technology segments. CT Labs stays on the cutting edge of convergence technology through its project involvement with the scalability, correctness, and robustness testing of all the very latest types of Voice-over-IP equipment and services (including IMS).

The IMS Forum (IP Multimedia Subsystem) is a global, non-profit industry association dedicated to service creation, service availability and applications delivery for IMS Architecture Frameworks, in addition to interoperability and certifications of IMS services and solutions. Mu is a featured member of the IMS Forum, participates in its PlugFest interoperability events and has authored the Forum's benchmark guidelines on IMS reliability and availability.

The Institute for Applied Network Security is North America's premier membership organization for practicing information security professionals offering a mix of primary research, hands on events and first-hand user experience in publications. Mu is a demonstrating participant with its service provider customers at Institute events.

The ISA (Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation) Society is actively working on two fronts to improve security for industrial control systems: The ISA Security Compliance Institute (ISCI) and the ISA99 standards effort (specifically Working Group 4). The ISCI is working on defining and promulgating the ISASecure logo and certification program, which will be the public face of the evolving ISA99 standards. Mu is actively participating in both efforts to help the industrial control systems market rapidly converge on meaningful, reproducible standardized security metrics and processes.

The Process Control Systems Forum (PCSF) is a global group of government; academia; industry users, owner/operators, and systems integrators; and the vendor community all seeking to accelerate the design, development, and deployment of more secure control and legacy systems. Mu is a PCSF Participant helping develop and adopt common architectures, protocols, and practices within this diverse user group.

Mu is a MultiService Forum (MSF) member. MSF is a global association of network operators, system suppliers and test equipment vendors committed to developing and promoting open-architecture, multiservice Next Generation Networks. The MSF's activities include the upcoming Global Oct 20-31 IPTV Interoperability event at Tier 1 operators including BT, Vodafone, China Mobile and Verizon, developing Implementation Agreements, promoting worldwide compatibility and interoperability of network elements, and encouraging input to appropriate national and international standards bodies.

This working group will help enable a cost-effective transition to IMS/NGN environments. HP will chair the working group with support from vice-chairs, Comverse and Mu Dynamics. Other industry leaders participating as founders of this new group include Acision, Aricent, DSET, Marben Products, NE Technologies, Tech Mahindra, and Tekelec.

Under the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has "primary responsibility to coordinate development of a framework that includes protocols and model standards for information management to achieve interoperability of smart grid devices and systems…" Current List of SGIP Participating Member Organizations

NSS Labs is the world's foremost independent security testing facility. NSS' awards are recognized world-wide as being the most desirable and essential when it comes to security products. Vendors consider the awards to be a crucial step in any security-related marketing campaign, whilst feedback from readers of the reports indicates that participation in an NSS Labs test and/or one of the NSS Approved awards is a prerequisite for any security product in order to be considered for purchase. Mu's Test Suite is among the tools employed by NSS Labs in performing its security testing.

Mu is a Participating Organization member of the PCI Security Standards Council. The PCI Data Security Standard (DSS) is a multifaceted security standard that includes requirements for security management, policies, procedures, network architecture, software design and other critical protective measures.

SANS is the most trusted and by far the largest source for service availability and information security training as well as certification in the world. Mu is a SANS Affiliate and frequently contributes customer speakers and vendor event participation. Mu Lab advisories are also detailed on SANS' Internet Storm Center - a large collection of research documents about various aspects of information security and operation of the Internet's early warning system.

Avaya's SIP Center is a portal for the commercial development of the Session Initiation Protocol. Serving both the SIP community and the wider industry, the SIP Center offers comprehensive technical and market resources as well as an environment for the testing of SIP implementations. Avaya offers access to our SIP Network Server, testing tools and scenarios for testing purposes. The SIP Center is the most comprehensive SIP testing facility on the web open 24 / 7 and the world's largest directory of SIP products and services with thousands of company listings.

The SIP Forum's SIPit interoperability test events are among that team's mission to advance the adoption of products and services based on the Session Initiation Protocol. Mu Security actively participates in SIPit events.

Mu is a SNIA's Technology Center Champions Program (TCCP) Zettabyte Champion member. SNIA's TCCP program offers data storage and networking vendors the ability to advance the storage industry while offering hands-on experience to configure and validate storage solutions.

TIA represents providers of information, communications and entertainment technology products and services for the global marketplace including ANSI-accredited standards development and the facilitation of member business opportunities. Mu is a featured TIA General Manufacturer and Supplier member.

Ixia™ and its partners founded the TesLA^cm Alliance (Test Lab Automation) to provide an open, multi-vendor automation framework that allows alliance members to offer integrated IP test automation solutions for their network operator and vendor customers.  The three (3) types of TesLA alliance members – traffic generation, automation infrastructure and value-added components - will build and market compatible solutions for automating testing in customer quality assurance (QA) facilities.  TesLA aims to provide customers a much needed framework and open-source tools to raise productivity, improve ROI and accelerate NGN IP service time to market. Ixia is today hosting a TesLA alliance briefing and product demonstrations today at Ixia’s iSimCity proof-of-concept lab in Santa Clara, Calif.
