Mu Dynamics is seeking an outstanding Application-Level Firewall Test Automation Software Engineer who will be a core member of the software development team responsible for all aspects of automated product validation of a software suite for testing Application-Level Firewalls and Application-Level Gateway devices.

The Mu Test Suite manages test creation, test execution and test results. The Mu Test Suite leverages Mu’s proprietary test execution modules to generate network traffic for security, functional and scale testing; it can also monitor and control the remote devices under test. The Mu Test Suite allows our major network service provider customers – and their network equipment vendors – to build and operate higher quality, more reliable and more scalable Next Generation Network and Mobile 4G (LTE Evolved Packet Core) services.

Mu Dynamics takes test automation extremely seriously – it is our core business – so we are looking for an experienced developer who enjoys automated approaches to all aspects of testing software – from test suite design, emphasizing system verification at the network layer, to the automation of interoperability, regression and performance test suites, and even the development of tools and simulators which emulate target systems. The ideal candidate will have experience configuring and testing Application-Level Firewalls such as those built by Fortinet, Bluecoat and SonicWall. Successful candidates should also be skilled at working with product management and customer advocates to build use case scenarios, in addition to working with product development to provide feedback on product usability and effectiveness during the product design phase.

This position is located in Sunnyvale, CA.

Requirements:

• Two to five years of professional test automation software development experience.
• Fluency in two or more of the following development languages: Ruby, Java, Python and Perl.
• Experience working with Selenium and REST to automate application testing.
• Experience working with and automating network testing tools and performance testing platforms for Application-Level Firewalls and Application-Level Gateways.
• Proficiency with Linux and a wide variety of open source software tools.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP and other networking/application protocols essential.
• Understanding of Network Address Translation, Firewall Policies and Intrusion Detection considered a strong plus.
• Previous exposure to Scrum and Agile software development methodologies considered a strong plus.
• Must be enthusiastic and excited about working in an Agile Software Development environment with frequent software releases.
• Self-motivated, resourceful and creative problem solver who pays careful attention to detail and is also a team player.
